Working Conditions

  • Always work indoors.
  • Provide a service to others.
  • May work full time or part time.
  • Must be sure that all details of the job are performed and everything is done.
  • Often wear a special uniform.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop other employees.
  • Must be very exact or highly accurate in performing the job.
  • May work early mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be constantly aware of frequently changing or infrequent events.
  • Are often exposed to hazardous situations such as cuts and minor burns.
  • Have a high level of job-required social interaction. They work closely with other kitchen staff and customers.
  • Are sometimes exposed to hazardous equipment.
  • Are responsible for work outcomes and results of other workers they supervise.

Physical Demands

  • Coordinate movement of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving or while remaining in one place.
  • Walk or run.
  • Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
  • Choose quickly and correctly among various movements when responding to different signals.
  • Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
  • Determine from which direction a sound came.
  • See difference among colors, shades, and brightness.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Move arms and legs quickly.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Use fingers or hands to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects.
  • Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired.
  • Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.
  • Make repetitive motions.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Recognize and understand the speech of another person.
  • Make fast, simple, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Be physically active for long periods without getting out of breath.
