Assistant Professor
Tenure track faculty, nine-month appointment beginning
Fall 2005
Essential Functions
Teach undergraduate courses in recreation management.
Advise undergraduate students, supervise student
leadership experience, and supervise internships.
Maintain a productive line of scholarship including
scholarly publication. Seek to secure external funds.
Develop partnerships with community agencies and
organizations. Assist with curriculum development, serve
on university committees, and participate in
professional and community service.
Qualifications
Required
An earned doctorate in recreation and tourism
management, leisure studies, or related field. Prior
college level teaching experience. Evidence of ability
to teach one or more core courses. Evidence of ability
to develop a program of scholarship including
publication in peer-reviewed journals. Evidence of
ability to work with diverse populations. Specialization
in community recreation management.
Desired
A teaching and scholarly emphasis on youth recreation
and/or youth-at-risk is desirable but other emphases
within community recreation or leisure development
across the lifespan will be considered. Evidence of
potential to secure external funding for research.
Evidence of potential to develop partnerships with
community organizations and agencies. Practical
experience in community recreation.
