Department: Leisure Studies and Recreation
Effective Date of Appointment: August 2005 (Subject to Budgetary Approval)
Rank: Lecturer, 1 year appointment (renewable for 2 additional years depending on budget and performance.)

Salary: Commensurate with background and experience

Qualifications: Ph.D. preferred, masters degree required with academic background in recreation, parks, tourism, commercial recreation, entrepreneurship, or a closely related field. Practical experience in commercial recreation, tourism, hospitality, or related area preferred.
Evidence of successful college/ university teaching is required. Evidence of successful grant and/or fund development and acquisition is preferred.
Evidence of ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team is required.

At time of appointment, the successful applicant, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.

Responsibilities: Refine and develop departmental program focus and innovation in commercial recreation and/or tourism, hospitality. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the following areas: commercial recreation, tourism, hospitality, entrepreneurship, event planning and core recreation management classes as assigned. Develop external grants and funding consistent with departmental priorities.

Final determination of teaching assignment is contingent upon enrollment, funding and curriculum priorities.
