You'll find El Chico, but there's no Groucho, Harpo, or Zeppo in sight -- just five good sons who moved their Mama's cafe to Dallas in 1940 and started El Chico Restaurants. Now nearly 100 of the Mexican-food restaurants exist in about a dozen midwestern and southern states. The restaurants feature casual dining and standard Tex-Mex fare such as burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas, and tacos. About 30% of the restaurants are franchised, and the rest are company-owned. El Chico Restaurants is now owned by restaurant investment group Consolidated Restaurants Operations, which also owns Good Eats and Spaghetti Warehouse.
