Beloved by bovines, Chick-fil-A is the nation's #3 fast-food chicken restaurant chain (behind Yum! Brands' KFC and AFC's Popeye's. It serves chicken entrees, sandwiches, and salads (as well as its famous waffle fries and fresh-squeezed lemonade) at more than 1,000 stores in 35 US states and in South Africa . Although about 40% its restaurants are located in shopping malls, the company is focusing most of its expansion efforts on freestanding outlets. Chick-fil-A also licenses units inside hospitals, schools, airports, and other nontraditional locations.
