Pollo Tropical plays chicken with giant KFC and other big chains. The company owns, operates, and franchises fast-food restaurants whose specialty is grilled chicken marinated in tropical fruit juices and spices. The restaurants, which are known for authentic Caribbean-influenced dishes such as yucca, plantains, and black beans and rice, offer sit-down, take-out, and drive-through services. Pollo Tropical owns more than 50 locations in Florida, and 26 franchised stores, primarily in Puerto Rico . The company is a subsidiary of Carrols Corp., which operates more than 360 Burger King franchises and owns the Taco Cabana fast-food chain.
