RTM is motivated by roast beef. RTM Restaurant Group is the largest franchise group in the US , operating more than 1,000 restaurants in 24 states. The company is the nation's largest franchiser of Arby's Roast Beef restaurants, with some 770 units. Through its 20% stake in Winners International, RTM franchises nearly 170 Mrs. Winner's Chicken & Biscuits and Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken units. RTM also operates Del Taco, T.J. Cinnamon's Classic Bakery, Sbarro, and Pasta Connection restaurants. The company was founded in 1973 by president Russ Umphenour. He retains majority ownership in the company.
