Hearty Southerners stand a good chance of finding a Hardee's nearby. Hardee's Food Systems owns and operates the fast-food chain with about 2,400 restaurants in 34 states, mainly in the Southeast and Midwest , and in 11 other countries. A subsidiary of CKE Restaurants, which also owns the Carl's Jr. burger chain, Hardee's offers a menu of hamburgers, chicken, roast beef, and fish sandwiches. Nearly all Hardee's have drive-through windows; they are improving customer service with charbroiled menu items, limited table service, and unlimited drink refills.
