The #1 US fast-food chicken chain, formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, owns or franchises some 11,800 outlets -- nearly half of them in the US . With 46% of the US market, KFC sells its trademark fried chicken, as well as chicken sandwiches, chicken pot pies, crispy strips, and potato wedges. Along with Pizza Hut and Taco Bell , KFC is a division of Yum! Brands (formerly known as TRICON Global Restaurants, a PepsiCo spinoff), which is the world's #2 fast-food company after McDonald's. In a concept known as co-branding, Yum! is grouping its brands under one roof as growth in the US fast-food industry slows. KFC operates some 700 restaurants in China, including that country's first drive-thru which opened in 2002.
