For dinner or dessert, Federico Paternina fills the glass. The company produces and distributes wine from Spain 's famed La Rioja region. Its leading labels include Banda Oro, Conde de los Andes , and Gran Reserva Paternina. Wine provides the great majority of the company's sales, but Paternina also produces gourmet vinegar, brandy, sherry, spirits, and liquors under the Otaola brand. Paternina sells worldwide, but Spain accounts for most of its revenues. The Eguizábal family bought the seized Federico Paternina vineyards in an auction (from the Spanish government) for a single peseta in 1985; the Eguizábals owns nearly 80% of the company. Founded in1896, the company uses cellars dating back to the 1500s.
