The Wine Group, Inc.

Company Type: Private

The cat's out of the bag about bag-in-the-box wine. The Wine Group's Franzia, which comes in a box, is the #1 table wine in the US . Box wine's sales have improved since the mid-1980s. A regular proletarian's vintner, it also offers such bargain wines as Corbett Canyon (available in a resealable decanter), Mogen David Kosher, Lejon (bargain domestic vermouth), and Tribuno (premium domestic vermouth). The company has been acquiring brands from other companies, including Talus, Vendange, and others from Sebastiani's bulk wine divisions and from Tesla Vineyard. The Wine Group, once part of The Coca-Cola Company, is a limited partnership formed in 1981 to buy Franzia Bros., Mogen David, and Tribuno.
