Philip Kendall has been appointed Director of Operational Support at
Auberge Resorts. Kendall had most recently been the Managing Director
at Meadowood. A respected food and beverage expert, he was Vice
President of Food and Beverage for Starwood following several years
in the capacity with Hyatt.
Jeffrey Jacobs has joined Prime Hospitality as Executive Vice
President. He will be in charge of Wellesley Inns and all full
service hotels. He replaces Steven Kronick who had joined Prime in
1989. Jacobs, who recently operated L’Escale in Connecticut, is a
former General Manager of the Adam’s Mark St. Louis.
Becka Chester has been named Vice President of Interior Design for
Hilton Hotels Corporation. Chester was most recently with SFA Design.
At Harrah’s, Jillian Murphy is the successor to Scott
Nasser as Corporate Director of Hotel Operations. She moves up from the
position of Vice President Hotel Operations at Harrah’s Tahoe. Prior
to joining the company she was the General Manager of Mohonk Mountain
House.
Jack Miller has transferred to the Intercontinental Miami as
General Manager, taking over for the retiring Fred de Roode. A
long-time Intercontinental General Manager, Miller comes from the
Intercontinental Houston.
William Plegt has been appointed General Manager of the
Intercontinental Houston. Prior to this appointment, Plegt was the
General Manager of the Intercontinental San Juan Resort & Casino. He
had originally joined the company in 1984 at the Barclay
Intercontinental New York. In Houston, he takes over from Jack Miller.
Sean Maddock is the new General Manager at the Arizona Biltmore
for KSL Resorts. A former Shangri-La executive, he transfers
from the same position at the Claremont Resort and Spa, a property he
had joined in April. At the Biltmore, he replaces Stephen Ast, who
left the company. At the Claremont, Victor Woo, Director of
Marketing, is filling in as Interim General Manager.
Marco Selva is the new General Manager at the Ritz-Carlton Key
Biscayne, replacing Michael Carsch, who left the company. Selva
was most recently the opening General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Coconut
Grove. Angella Reid comes from the Ritz-Carlton Washington, DC
to replace Selva as General Manager in Coconut Grove.
Martein van Wagenberg returns to Rosewood’s Little Dix Bay
as Managing Director. Van Wagenberg previously worked at the resort in 1995
as Food and Beverage Director. For the past eight years, he was the General
Manager of the Grace Bay Club in the Turks & Caicos.
Andreas Nauheimer has been appointed General Manager of the Hyatt
Regency Santiago. Nauheimer had rejoined Hyatt International in
October 1997 as Executive Assistant Manager Food and Beverage at the
Grand Hyatt Seoul and was most recently the General Manager of the
Hyatt Regency Mumbai.
Malcolm Thompson has been appointed General Manager of the Park
Hyatt Los Angeles. Thompson joined Hyatt in 1984 at the Hyatt Regency
Sydney and was most recently the General Manager of the Park Hyatt
Tokyo. In Los Angeles, he replaces Ulrich Samietz, now the
General Manager of the Hyatt Westlake.
Eric Adame has been named General Manager of the Hotel ICON in
Houston. He was most recently the Director of Rooms at the Scottsdale
Resort & Conference Center and prior to this was the Director of Rooms
at the Royal Palms Hotel and Casitas.
Felix Murillo has transferred to the Four Seasons Mexico City
as Hotel Manager. Murillo was most recently the Director of Food and
Beverage at the Four Seasons Miami.
Michael Glick is the new General Manager of the Publick House
Historic Inn and Country Motor Lodge in Massachusetts. Glick, a graduate
of Johnson & Wales started his hospitality career at the Omni Hotel
in Providence, moved on to Le Méridien Boston (now the Langham)
and was most recently at the Colonnade for two years.
Charles Burton has been named Hotel Manager at the Homestead. Burton,
who has served as Rooms Division Manager since 2000, began his hospitality
career at the Homestead’s sister property, Barton Creek Resort.
Oliver Key joined the Fairmont Orchid as Hotel Manager. Key
originally joined Fairmont six years ago at the Plaza in New York and
was previously the Director of Food and Beverage at the Fairmont San
Francisco.
Jim Oliver has been promoted to Hotel Manager at the Ritz-Carlton
New Orleans, where he was the Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms
Division.
Steven Shaefer has been appointed Hotel Manager at
the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island. He transfers from his current
position as General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Jupiter Golf Club.
Richard Jardin has left the Garrett Hotel Group after being on
the opening team of both the Willcox and Seeger's at the Willcox.
He is now the General Manager of the Inn at Dos Brisas in Texas.
At Houston’s Hotel Derek, John Boulware has joined as
Director of Operations. Boulware previously served as Hotel Manager and
Controller of Hotel Icon.
Jonathan Wise is returning to Greenwich’s tony Delamar as
Director of Marketing. Wise was most recently the General Manager of
Villa del Sol in Mexico. Until 2002, he had been the Director of Hotel
Operations for Greenwich Hospitality, Delamar’s owning company.
The Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Resort has appointed James Moss
as Director of Sales and Marketing. Most recently, Moss served as the
Director of Sales at the Phoenician and as Director of Group Sales at
the Westin Innisbrook Resort in Florida, both Starwood
properties.
The Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa announced the addition
of Jim Miller to its executive staff as Vice-President of Sales &
Marketing. Miller was most recently involved in the real estate market in
Atlanta.
Interstate Hotels & Resorts announced that Michael Krouse has
joined the company in Virginia as Vice President, Sales and Marketing, West
Coast. Prior to joining Interstate, Krouse was the Director of Sales and
Marketing at the Millennium Biltmore in Los Angeles and had spent the
previous ten years with Hilton Hotels Corporation.
At the Waldorf-Astoria, Jo-Anne Budge has left after seven
years as Director of Human Resources. Her successor is Christine Ferone
who was promoted from within. Prior to going the Waldorf-Astoria, Ferone was
the Director of Human Resources at the Regency, also in New York.
Tanya Wagner has transferred to the Four Seasons Miami as
Director of Food and Beverage, replacing Felix Murillo. Wagner was in
the same position at the Four Seasons Prague. Michael Weil
transfers to Prague from the Four Seasons Resort Maldives to take
over for Wagner.
Bruno Roulleux has joined Le Méridien Chicago as
Director of Food and Beverage. Roulleux was most recently in the same
position at the Stoweflake Mountain Resort and Spa in Vermont and the
Grove Isle Hotel in Miami.
Bob Khalifé has been promoted from Guest Services Manager to Food and
Beverage Manager at Rosewood’s Mansion on Turtle Creek.
Mario Barroso is the new Director of Engineering at the
very-soon-to-open Setai in Miami. He had previously been in the same
position at the Roney Palace, which has closed. Barroso also served
as Group Director of Engineering at Island Outpost.
At Santa Barbara’s soon-to-open Hotel Andalucia, Sherry
Stimatzwas has been named Director of Catering and Lindsey Bacciarini-Collard
is National Sales Manager. Stimatzwas was most recently the Catering Sales
Manager at San Ysidro Ranch and Bacciarini-Collard comes from Fess
Parker's Doubletree Resort.
Paul Sant has been appointed Executive Chef at Dolce Tarrytown
House He takes over from Chris Hettinger who becomes the Director
of Evening Operations. Sant, an Australian, recently served as the Executive
Chef of the Marriott Biscayne Bay in Miami.
Nathan Logan has joined the soon-to-open Giacomo New York as
Executive Chef. Logan was previously the Executive Chef at Steven and
Thalia Loffredo’s Zoë. Prior to relocating to New York,
Logan was the Executive Chef of Pazzo in Portland, a
Kimpton Restaurant.
Jonathan Pflueger joins Rancho Valencia as Executive Chef.
Pflueger was most recently a Partner at Hush and previously a Chef at
Montage Resort and Spa both in Laguna Beach.
The Intercontinental Houston has named Peter Laufer its new
Executive Chef. He joins the hotel from the Intercontinental Miami
where he was the Executive Banquet Chef. In Houston, he replaces Bixente
Pery, who is now the Executive Chef at the new Intercontinental
Buckhead in Atlanta.
Graham Elliot Bowles is the new Chef de Cuisine for Avenues at
the Peninsula Chicago. Bowles was most recently at the Jackson
House Inn in Woodstock, Vermont, where his work earned him a spot among
Food and Wine’s Top Ten Chefs 2004. His resume includes stints at the
Mansion on Turtle Creek, Charlie Trotter’s and Tru.
After three years, Laurent Gras has left San Francisco’s Fifth
Floor. Melissa Perello, formerly of Charles Nob Hill, will
be taking over following some renovations.
Thomas Atkins is the new Executive Chef at Center on the Grove
in Boise. Atkins comes from L’Auberge Del Mar.
Leslie Revsin, 59 sadly passed away. The first woman to achieve the
title of Chef at the Waldorf=Astoria, she will also be remembered for
her own Restaurant Leslie in the West Village and for kitchen posts
at 24 Fifth Avenue, Bridge Café, and Argenteuil. Her
last restaurant job was at the Inn at Pound Ridge.
Renaud Le Rasle is Chef Partner at Rêve in New York. Le Rasle
was formerly the private chef to Daniel Wildenstein. He also was the
Chef at the short-lived Medi at Rockefeller Center, along with
Consulting Chef Roger Vergé. It was at the late Russian tea Room
that Le Rasle made his name until if was shuttered in the summer of 2002.
In Chicago, Dale Levitsky has taken over as Executive Chef at
Trio, replacing Grant Achatz. Levitsky was most recently the chef
at La Tâche. Achatz, a former Sous Chef at Thomas Keller’s
French Laundry, made his name at Trio. He will be opening his own
restaurant, to be called Alinea.
After a brief three-month stint as Executive Banquet Chef at the newly
renovated Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, Matthew Zubrod returns to
the Ritz-Carlton Club in Aspen as Executive Chef.
Morne Van Antwerp joins Cotton House as Executive Chef. He
hops over from the Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort and Spa where he was
the Executive Chef for the newly added French Village for the past
two years.
Lee Parson the former Executive Chef of the Prince of Wales Hotel
in Niagara-on-the-Lake continues his career as Executive Chef at the
Wedgewood Hotel in Vancouver. Parson began his career at Claridges’
in London.
Brian Schoenbeck has joined the Peninsula Chicago as Pastry
Chef. He was most recently at the Greenbrier and Carrie Nahabedian’s
Naha in Chicago.
Irina Kogan has joined the Mark Mandarin-Oriental as Pastry
Chef. Kogan, a native of the Ukraine, was most recently the Pastry Chef at
Rick Moonen’s rm.
Gregory Castells has joined Bastide in Los Angeles as
Sommelier, replacing Christophe Rolland who has left to join
Maison Leroy in San Francisco. Castells comes from Le Bec Fin in
Philadelphia where he was the Head Sommelier. He was previously at La
Terrasse in Juan Les Pins and La Palme d’Or in Cannes.
David Phillips has been promoted from Front Office Manager to
Assistant Rooms Division Director at the Mansion on Turtle Creek.
Over the past ten years, he has held management positions in both food and
beverage and rooms at Kiawah Island Resorts, the St. Regis Aspen
and the Phoenician.
Edward Goff has left his position as Director of Reservations at the
Four Seasons Newport Beach to take on the same position at the
Millennium Biltmore in Los Angeles. Richard Gonzales is his
successor at the Four Seasons.
Ann Joyce, Chief Concierge of the Park Hyatt Los Angeles for
the past nine years, has assumed the role of Chief Concierge at the
Regent Beverly Wilshire.
